My own freelancing can go on now. This will work just fine for local website inserts. And give me control Movie maker will never have. SD is still acceptable for most low end work. And I can serve a local market otherwise priced out of modern imaging and small production.
If I can earn a little money then I can buy better. And I can still cut some HD with Win 7 Movie maker. Or get a Pinnacle version.
PP 1.5 in XPMode is working better and faster than on many of the Celeron and Pentium setups I have run it on in the past. The i3 and bigger RAM allocation have done magic. And will get better when I add RAM and allocate even more free RAM to PP 1.5 .

I could not find the settings panel to reset the Premiere Pro 1.5 path to the drivers for sound.
Reinstalling PP 1.5 b did not work either .
Uninstalling Windows 7 XPMode then reinstalling XPMode and then reinstalling PP 1.5 did work
I then allocated more RAM to XPMode and it all works fine so far.
This wastes more time than simply making a settings change for a path to the sound drivers but I guess that is the price one pays for using Windows.

Yes. 64 bit. But Virtual PC/ XPMode runs it as 32bit just like 99% of the other programs everyone has that are not specifically 64 bit are run by Win 7.
And trying demo ware that I do not intend to buy will nevewr help me fix my problem and only serve to divert me..

Operating system software is not servicable by the hardware manufacturer beyond their OEM system install.
As I said this is a Win7 Professional (upgrade) with Virtual PC and XPMode.
It is not clear to me if I have any free online help or not. And just finding a phone number or chat window on the multitude iof MS site is a puzzler as well.

This is a brand new computer, running fully bought and paid for software. It functions absolutely brilliantly other tha than not having application sound in these two specific Adobe programs. EVERYTHING else works fine.
I strongly urge you to reread my original message fully.

XPMode runs inside a Virtual Machine that runs within Win7. It is all long proven very old technology. Nothing new on that front. Just the names and version changes.Big companies do this stuff all the time.
I reiterate, Premiere worked well enough and found the hardware until I upped the RAM allocation.
The only problem is Premiere Pro 1.5 cannot find the Sound drivers when it starts. And every time I try to find an application icon right click panel that has a tab for the sound drivers like I had before that tab is missing. And looking at the icon the way I interpret the MS docs to mean only takes me to a .dll that actually contains the program in a thing titled rundll32 and says it is an application.
The way MS phrases their docs, and you know they have been set in syntax that is meant to just go through translator programs without understandability being checked, Makes it very difficult to discern an exact step by step process and a map of how to get there.Adrian D’Alessio aka; Fluxstringer

I agree Joseph. Try looking at the parameters of the.avi files. Depending on the codec used to export it and any custom settings it may vary from one that works.
I have asked big money editors and college professors about this subject and they either wish to hide knowledge to keep and edge or don’t know any more than I do about it. Which is hard to believe.
There is a DV book on the subject of codecs but I don’t have it yet.
As for Vista I have had my fill of people telling me to install XP. We all do not have the monitary resources of our well paid bretheren. And sooner or later someone has to deal with Vista as an OS platform.
