Well, I would do a “save as” and add backup to the file and save it in another folder. I haven’t had to test it with another crashed project…. you’re probably right though, if it project goes, if the auto saves go… then so would the backup too.

Unfortunely I’ve found no solution. I just had to redo the project, it was literally due the next day. a few updates back, I had a similar issue… and I began saving a backup copy… then with a new update… I was able to open the projects that were corrupt, so I falsely assumed adobe had fixed the problem… though it won’t help me with this project, I’m hoping adobe’s next update might allow me to open this busted project… and I am back to saving a second backup copy every five minutes or so. It’s a pain in the butt, but it beats taking a completed project I spent five days working on and having to redo it in one night.

Unfortunately I didn’t. I saved, saved, saved my project over and over and had the auto saves, but none will open now.

When you say “option drag” is that a mac command? I’m on pc and I’m not familiar with that technique.

I had to report back some good news. I’m still getting the stutters in windows media player, but it no longer shows up on air. Several people have said it was a windows media player issue… They appear to be right. I’m guessing a recent rushworks update fixed it from showing the stutters on air. I’m a happy camper. Relieved.

Thank you for hanging in and trying to solve an adobe issue that doesn’t appear to have been an adobe issue, Dennis. 🙂

Hi Dennis,
I’m still getting the frame skips at times, both at home and at work. I do have a “best settings” that I’ve found that reduces it. I just wanted to let you know what it is, in case it shows you something specific about the problem.

Multiplexer
Variable, 0 mux rate, 4096 packet size, 1 packets/pack,
video buffer size of 30 kb, and audio buffer size of 12 kb.

Video
Quality 100, 1920/1080, 29.97, upper, square, ntsc, main, high,
vbr 1 pass, 6, 15, 18.5, GOP M frames 3, N frames 15, Closed GOP every 0, automatic GOP placement is checked.

Advanced
Macro block Q 10, VBV Buffer Size 224 x 2 Kbytes, sensitivity for noise control, yes for write sde, all ITU-R Rec. 709, 9 bit IDC precision, yes write sequence, no embed svcd used blocks and 0 ignore frame interval.

I did clean out the files, specifically, I ran CC Cleaner and deleted the adobe common files. If there is more to cleaning it up, please let me know.

Later in the evening, I decided to manually download the update just to see if it would help. afterward I did a few test encodes. With settings using VBR 1, 6 15 18.5, I had two successful four minute encodes of two different video projects with no issues. one test using CBR 14 mbps, I had issues like old times.

Is it normal for a system to have issues at different settings or should all settings work fine? just curious. The only time this would be an issue is if a broadcast client had to have CBR 12 for example, like NBR does (though theirs is in SD.)

When I get back home I will clear cashe, etc.
