April 11, 2005 at 2:49 pm in reply to: Creating realistic lighting to encapsulate an object within a scene? If you dont have Knoll Light factory, I have had good luck with AE lense flare and shine. Just map the source point to the lense flare source and change color and other to your liking.
good luck,

Are you using the comps lights?
But I dont know if it would work that way anyway. Invigorator keeps each effect in its own space. It handles each effect that you apply independantly. Like two seperate 3D programs. for instance you can place two Invigorators behind each other in Z space but when you flip flop layers it puts whatever one is on top in layer order regardless of that Z space priority. OK I am confused now….
Try rendering out the models independantly with an alpha then bringing them back in. That will give you shadows but it may lose the 3D properties you are wanting.
Hope that helps…

I really value what was said especially being out of school and working for only 3 years now. But I dont think what students need is more interships I think they need or atleast I needed a class or a part of class called ‘The Business.” Where they would learn about how valuable networking and bullshiting are. How to handle the money issue, what you should ask for and how to say NO. And how to deal with working with people that should not have a job. And the most important how to convince the suits to allow creativity to grow and develop.
Anyway the best advice I was given on the freelance side of the fence is…’If you get a client because of a low price, you will lose them because of a low price.’

Only use Fields when you are using DV footage. Dont render your 3d model with fields. That could be it.

Shadows only show when the layer is set to best. The little dash line where the shy layer switch and adjustment layer switch. Or inside the Invigorator window you can hold down apple or control and click on the ok button which should have changed to Test.
Invigorator does not renders shadows in draft mode allowing for faster rendering so you can work faster.
Good luck….Read the manual its in there.

I would make a copy of the Illustrator file and pick the layers apart and check if some of the layers are just outlines. When people make graphics in Illustrator they use alot of techniques that consequently dont work for Invigorator. I have had to edit several logos.
Just pick apart the file in Illustrator till you get what you want.
