Again, this discussion is highly speculative as we don’t know what the trademark illustrations look like that are in the USPTO file cabinets.

I could add, though, that only a few years ago a trademark rule changed that allowed color to be added in the application. It’s possible that by specifying a color in a trademark would make other similar logos more common, so long as the form and color are not used in unison.
However, Target would probably also register a B&W version of their trademark, as that is the traditional standard.

Maybe NP’s logo existed before Target’s, and they didn’t bother to register it. But, I’d lean towards thinking that there is a connection between the two organizations.

You would really have to talk to somebody in their legal departments to get a factual answer.

If you do find a more specific answer to this, let us know here at the COW. Now I’m curious! 🙂

I worked as a patent illustrator for some time, so every job was in part a legal issue.
I offer this only as a contemplation, nothing more.
If these are two different logos, which is to say that the registered trademarks for both companies include a graphic object and text, the main difference is that one says ‘Neilpryde’ underneath a circular object, the other says ‘Target’ underneath a circular object. Clearly two different logos.
This assumes that the registered trademarks both include text, and that either of them are registered trademarks.
Also, the ‘Neilpryde’ logo has a sort of knock-out, the outer white ring. It also has a drop shadow, which would likely not be included in the trademark application, but drawn with a .25 pt. stroke around the outer white edge of the white knockout, essentially creating 3 circular black forms in the circular object. Whereas the ‘Target’ logo would only show 2.
It’s also possible that these companies have some sort relation.

Again, these are just a few contemplations.

I’m at a loss.

Reset All Tools and Reset Brushes are two different functions, on two different lists. Try doing both. It sounds like you tried Reset Brushes.

When the brush is selected in the tool box, try setting the brush Mode to Normal.

If it still doesn’t work, maybe start a thread in the PS & AI forum. There’s usually more eyes on that forum.

Try File/Scripts… then there a couple of different options. Test them to see which is best for your needs.

Try: Reset All Tools, there is a triangle drop-down menu next to the active tool’s icon – not on the tool box, but on the main menu. Just under the File & Edit menus.
Then click the next triangle drop-down, Reset All Tools will be there.

Also, check to make sure the Brush Tool is set to Brush Tool, and not Pencil Tool or Color Replacement Tool.

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on the printer. They may bump it up to 300ppi in the shop, or not. They may charge for it, or not. I’d check with the printer to see what they expect in a print file.

I’d consider getting Genuine Fractals for upping resolution. It, arguably, does a great job of performing this task. I’m a supporter of GF, some are not.

This way, you’re taking control over the process – if the printer does need a 300ppi file.

You could just boost your project to only 75ppi, creating a “1/4 scale” print file.

If, for some reason, you copy-protected your dvd you would need to decrypt the dvd first.
Once you have the VOB files on your hard drive you would likely need to have an MPEG2 codec installed and available in Premiere.
Main Concept MPEG Pro can accommodate this.
You may need to change the file extension of the source files from VOB to MPG (VOBs are MPGs).
MPEG doesn’t edit well, as it’s very processor intensive.
I’d recommend decompressing the MPEGs before editing. I use AVS Video Converter for decompression, but any decompression app will do.

Once you have both images opened in Photoshop, simply drag the “new” background layer from the Layers palette onto your masked image.
This will create a second layer in your masked image file.
Than, reorder the layers in the Layers palette by dragging the layers into the desired layer position.

What is the target display device. If it’s for desktop viewing, square pixels are fine. Otherwise, the project should should be formatted with a full screen or widescreen aspect ratio, and the images should be resampled to match.

If there is no video in the project, it’s probably safe to say that the project should be Progressive (not interlaced).
Check the project settings, or create a new project. Look under Project Settings/General/Video/Fields – choose No Fields (Progressive Scan).

I think Cinepak is the default compressor, when you switch to desktop editing. For your video rendering settings I’d recommend using Compressor: None.

As far as render times, make sure your output matches your project settings. If you are expoting to a non-square pixel format you’re invoking an additional rendering process that increases the render time.
Also, if your output is set to Fields and not Progressive, that might be causing the poor quality.
Further, if this program will be displayed on a CRT, you should resample your images using some type of “deflickering” technique, such as Deflickerator, probably available here…

Are you exporting a “movie”, or using Adobe Media Encoder, or something else? What codec (compressor/decompressor) are you exporting to, If it’s MPEG it will take a good deal of time.

Although not likely th answer you were looking for, as I use PP 1.5, maybe keyframe animation could achieve your desired results.

Try highlighting the title in the timeline,than opening the Effect Controls and animate the clip by setting keyframes with the Motion parameter.

Scrub to the first frame of the title and click the Motion/Position/Toggle Animation (stopwatch) button, to create a “start” keyframe.
Position the title offscreen to the bottom by adjusting the vertical positioning value of this Motion parameter.

Next, scrub to the last frame of the title – Or click the Page Down button on your keyboard (I find this to be easier). You could also click the Go To Next Edit Point under the Monitor.
Now adjust the vertical positioning parameter to a negative value, maybe -10. Adjusting this value will create an “end” keyframe.

You should now have 2 keyframes on the title clip, one at the first frame and one at the last frame, each with a different vertical position value.
You should now be able to scrub through the title in the timeline and see it scroll.

Just a possible option.
