The right way would be through a couple of KiPros/BM Hyperdecks/Sound Devices PIX (You can rent the PIX on Borrowlenses.com) .
Have one as backup/overlap recording. None of these guys should need computers to get them going. Do keep in mind that the BM base models don’t have analog audio input. If you are recording video the same way, send audio to both or use a TC generator.Don’t go cheap on this, you’ll kick yourself later.
This is a full time job for a person on site, use the AJA dataCalc app to calculate storage requirements based on format. Be sure to use USB 3 throughout the chain of transfer.
Stay away from local capture, it’s very resource heavy and will cripple the machines when transitions come into play, plus it’s unreliable.

Your background and talent just need more light, especially the background. Umbrellas unfortunately really don’t have much punch, I would recommend fluorescents for the background instead.
Make sure you manually set the iris on your camera.

A roll of white paper on a background kit is the easiest solution for a white back, roll away when you’re done.
Best of all, It’s cheap.I usually light flat with fluorescents (Kinos), just keep far enough to avoid hot spots. Either top and bottom, or sides.
You also might not want a completely white background, a slight gradient may be preferred.For talent lighting, you definitely want a strong backlight. Clothing also matters, you want contrast, but the camera will be the limitation here. Absolutely white balance manually, with a card on the front/talent light. I also tend to add a little CTO gel on my front lights to avoid that grey look you are talking about.

It’s all about bit rate. I would start at around 20 Mb/s for Youtube HD in H.264.

I would absolutely wait. The last Mac Pro was released 4 years ago.
Another issue is the lack of a CUDA card, which as you know can’t be changed on that machine.

Hey Marcus,
The two brands we see most are NEC and Planar. Planar being on the high end.
NEC has a few different versions with different bezel thickness. You could also look at Samsung, they are a bit cheaper.
I would also add CineMassive to the list.
Another option could be projection, it sure has gotten cheaper, and if you have the room to get the lighting right, it could work.

Another option if you can’t figure this out, is to export uncompressed, Animation, or Prores (Mac), then import in Encore and let it do the conversion to H.264.

You could simply build on top of the video and not get the pause effect (see attached Keynote sample). Then transition your next slides as usual.
Here’s the PPT version, make sure to use Arrange>Selection Pane to hide layers.
