Simple way to crossfade video and image files realtime or not possible without switcher?
I have an event where I need show a video in the background while each person is introduced and crossfade to placeholder still image when the introduction is over. We have used powerpoint in the past but the timing is never quite right…
I was looking for some kind of keyboard control on a mac to do this with video and placeholder image files. -

You could simply build on top of the video and not get the pause effect (see attached Keynote sample). Then transition your next slides as usual.
Here’s the PPT version, make sure to use Arrange>Selection Pane to hide layers.
