Apple Mac Pro for increased render speed?
I’m thinking of upgrading my system to increase render speeds in Premiere Pro & After Effects
I’m currently using an iMac 27″ 3.2gig intel core i5, 32gig memory, 3tb Fusion drive & SSD external drive.
Any idea how much faster a Mac Pro will be?
What about if I upgrade the memory to 64gig, or upgrade the graphics card? (will the later help? if so, which is better, memory of graphics card?)It’s a large investment & therefore I’d be looking for some dramatic improvement. (rendering is SO slow currently)
Or am I better going with a hi grade PC? If so, what would you recommend?
Any help would be appreciated.

Your best bet is to research the comparisons published on the Barefeets website. While they might not have any article that is 100% on target with your hardware, you should easily be able to extrapolate from one that is close.

I would absolutely wait. The last Mac Pro was released 4 years ago.
Another issue is the lack of a CUDA card, which as you know can’t be changed on that machine.

Dont buy a Mac Pro. They are WAAAY behind on updates and are far too expensive for what is now 3 year old tech.
I would get a 5K Imac with i7 and as much Ram as you can afford to buy, but buy your Ram from MacRam to save from being gouged by Apple. -

And if you can wait one more month, MBPs and iMacs would be upgraded with faster processors:) If you can’t wait, then like what Dan says, go with the best specced iMac 5K 27″.
