You are not giving us much info there. I am assuming this is a PC from your disk cache comment. How are you rendering. Render queue?, Export ? Are you using any particular codec ?

Do you have just one disk drive ?

You need to use the render queue, and choose windows media in the output module.

All right, well, I guess, the link option doesn’t work.

    I’ll try manually.

If you don’t own the Shine plugin, you can play with CC Radia fast blur. This is a cycore plugin, and comes with the production bundle CD, not sure if it is on the standalone CD.

Made ya a sample project in this boring morning…

Of course you are pretty limited with the CC effect settings, but then mixing it with other effects and playing with transparancy types can give you pretty cool results.

Ever since I bought Shine, I lost interest in trying other ways 😉

BTW, it works best if you use a second layer with you logo alone below.

Well, to start with, I don’t think it’s a good idea to use external drives (Firewire or USB2) for anything else than capture.

You are obviously not getting anywhere near the access speed you would be getting from an internal hardrive. I don’t have the specs in front of me but from what I remember it’s far off, whether you are on a Mac or on a PC. Worse I would assume on a PC since most users would use a PCI card for firewire. Firewire can also be CPU intensive, so you are cutting on speed there as well.

I will let other people make their points now 😉

Well, I ‘ll give this much to you, AE does have some issues in the audio department, but that shouldn’t be one of them.

What I am guessing is happening is that your audio is playing in realtime, but not the video.

I would try this reducing the quality and size until you can confirm that the video is playing in realtime.

I agree, with the last post as well, but it all depends on your use of PP2. In the very near future, you may be required to work with 720, or even 1080 HD. At that point, you will notice your PC’s real capabilities. Let’s add about 50 High rez images, and your HP will likely slow to a crawl. And that’s just Premiere… After Effect will require even more processing power with HD. But hey, you get what you pay for 🙂
