If the audio is coming out of the computer speakers, then it’s a delay that’s pretty common with sending the video by itself through firewire.
The delay is usually created by the DV to analog converter inside the VCR. A workaround is to set Premiere to send the audio through firewire as well and hook up speakers or headphones to the VCR deck itself. That problem can be more or less pronounced depending on the CPU.

Neither one has happened to me. There is however a bug involving Alpha channels in the preview window creating a shift in levels.

Do you mean that the audio is going frame by frame ? The video of course will only refresh every frame, but you should be able to get sample accuracy on the audio which is really what you are syncing to..

Nope, this shortcut doesn’t exist on PPro (That I know of) and it was discussed a while back with no solutions.
I think they figured they weren’t really important after that switch to the docked style. I do agree that this probably was a mistake.

I’m afraid that went away with the intro of PP Pro. It’s not really much of an issue if you work from the source monitor, but if you like to work in the timeline, yeah, it’s gonna be a bit of a pain.

Well, do you mean rendering the timeline, or exporting. Let’s say that you captured DV and exporting to Mpeg2, then, on your machine, you should probably expect at least 3 hours of rendering for each hour of footage (without effects).
The CPU is what usually takes most of the rendering load, so an upgrade is probably what would make a real difference.
Also, separating things in two or even three drives if you currently only have one should definitely help a little. What you really want is to seperate your OS and the video / media parts of your project.
To find out if you need more ram (on XP / Win 2000), do a Ctrl.Alt.Del during a render, then go to task manager > performance, look under Physical Memory and see if there is any left next to available.
A faster drive always helps, but after the memory upgrade, you are basically spending what you could be saving for your next upgrade, and if your CPU can’t keep up, there isn’t much else that will make any significant improvements.

What you are basically doing is telling After Effect to track a player (it will have to be a part of the player that stays visible through the whole sequence but AE is pretty good at that), then assign your arrows, etc. to follow that tracking point.

There is a waveform monitor in Premiere “Pro”. If you have anything above 6.5, click on the top right arrow in your preview monitor and change the mode to YC waveform. I would then apply the levels effects, use the RGB white output setting to lower the luma.
But what is likely happening is that the projector owner(s) have cranked up the brightness / contrast, to get some more bang out of them.Lately, I’ ve even seen factory default on newer projector making color bars look like something you would see after one of those 60’s party 😉

For online viewing, you should probably export to Windows Media. The quality you choose there with really depend on the amount of buffering or downloading you want your audience to go through, as well as the amount of small detail and motion. As far as size goes, do a quick calculation based on Kb/s.
