February 8, 2012 at 7:10 pm in reply to: Detect Intersecting MoGraph Clones

I’ve tried this and a million other thing…spent two days testing the “Project – Dynamics settings menu” as well as adding a Rigid Body Tag onto the Cloner object and testing all combinations of collision, self collision, trigger time, initial state settings, Inherit settings, Individual Elements – top, second, all levels, margins, shape – automatic/mograph…you name it I tried it…still clones intersect while traveling along a path with random effector set to jitter position of clones.

    Cinema 4d rev.13

I don’t know what else I could try. In 13, there is no Modynamics tags…just plain old Rigid Body or Collision tags under Simulation menu. : (

Any help is greatly appreciated… Maxon sure didn’t think this simple problem through.

OK, this is just for the test composition I set up.

    1. I key framed ‘Angular Dampening’ from zero to 200% after all major dynamics calculations were done. I went to where I suspected the start of the jittering happens. I key framed it over about 30 frames. These percentages and keyframes will be different for you of course.

    2. I also key framed ‘Follow Rotation’, but only from zero to 5 units…if you use higher values, the pieces will start to reverse their trajectories…which isn’t what you want.

I didn’t bother with ‘Follow Position’ in this test. It seemed to solve the jittering without sudden freezing of the pieces of glass I created.Hope this helps.

    Cheers.

I bought the regular version and it wasn’t very good. I wrote the company for help and they directed me to the manual, which is installed in the hard drive but did not make it known…wasted a few hours trying to figure it out. All in all this company, its product, the website is absolutely has the most horrible and confusing way of doing things. The manual is written with no regard to “normal” people…I feel like you have to have a math/science degree to understand it.

Try to find tutorials…the same situation. I mean, you would think that they could make a simple video of how to import 3d footage and apply the effect. Sorry, I am venting. I have yet to get satisfactory results from this product and it seems everyone is hush hush about how to use it successfully. What’s the deal?

If there is anyone out there, who has a good video of how to use this thing, please post a link! It would help out tons of folks who are under tight deadlines.

Finally, how the heck do you UNINSTALL the software? After installing it, I can’t seem to find how to get it off the computer.

Wow, thanks for your time and life lesson.

If you know of a way to ingest P2 footage without the Panasonic storage devices or having to pay another 350 dollars for their official single reader, please let me know. Other than that, I don’t think anyone can help folks like me who just upgraded to Snow Leopard and are stuck with the Dual Adapter card. I’m all out of money now – so buying another knick-knack just to transfer footage from a system which I invested 10K (including all hardware & software)…well, I hope you can see how that would rub anyone the wrong way.

    Thanks Panasonic,
    Thanks Apple, and
    Thanks Duel Systems –
you all did us right, we will remember you for all your great service.

I guess I should sell my setup and look in JVC or Sony…I hope those guys have their acts together, wish me luck.

    Thanks for that astute observation.

Only in words. Their software is completely useless for Snow Leopard. I think I will sell my Panasonic HVX package. This is absurd. I can’t believe I paid 280 bucks for that stupid Duel Adapter that doesn’t even work on my laptop. Where is the justice? Now I can’t even return it.

Nah, I didn’t bother since I was in Berlin at the time and by the time I foolishly did not fill out the warranty card immediately so the grace period of filling out the card had lapsed. Live and learn. I just posted it on Craigslist and sold it to someone who was willing to work with its problems.

I had some LitePanels in a kit and they were not dependable so I sold them. The supposed infinite adjustability became useless in a year and would not be adjustable. They would either go on or off…and it wasn’t just on one unit. ALL of the units showed the same symptoms after one year. And I did not get any use from them. I took care of them, never abused them and they just went kaputt. They did fine on some tests for the first few months but after that, they went downhill.

I wonder if anyone else has had this problem.
