Hello everyone,
after being between render times, I think it is better solution and faster going with the AE solution.
The reasons:
– After following this topic: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/19/863440
I realized how difficult ( and long) is getting right the glow trhough the paper in 3D.
– Glow in Cinema has loads of limitations
– Ae has way more options for creating glow.SOLUTION:
– I did the lantern in 3d with a normal pass.
– Using the amazing plugin Camera Tracker I put my lantern in 3d.
– I duplicated the cube , using this position I created a light ( using mask and feather and glow effect) and add over the lantern using the right blending mode.
– Because the wood cannot be totally affected by the light, I used a rotobrush on the wood part of the lantern, and I put this layer over the lantern. Making the light wrapped inside.
– For the water, what i am going to use it is the same lantern, by applying distort effect such as same when you creathe ripples for fire and use the right blending mode over the water.I guess i will need again rotobrush and 3d tracking to place perfect the effect.I hope this helps to someone!!!
Cheers

Hi Roland, thanks a lot for your script. I have been playing around, and it helps, however there is still a long way in order to perfectly adjust both layers. Is there any way else for this??
Many thanks

yes I heard that maybe boujou is the worst choice, so between pixel farm and camera track i should employ my time on camera tracker not?

November 19, 2011 at 10:39 am in reply to: tracking and replacing a face with mochaI totally understand your point. My idea was, that if the plane could be keyframed , the plane should be adjusting to the perspective in the best way possible. Anyway, the option to do in AE I agree is the best option.
Roland, I really appreciate your support, it was extremely helpful!!
thanks a lot¡

November 18, 2011 at 5:24 pm in reply to: tracking and replacing a face with mochajajjaaj the eyebrows were the most difficult part!
I habe been reading in the manual, that the surface is not possible to be keyframed, which I do not understand why. In the final track I have done, in the first part my surface sometimes ” go to hell” because Mocha is not able to understand really well that huge change in the perspective.
Is there any way to achieve a surface aligned the whole time to the real surface of the face???
Many thanks like always

Great answer, everything is quite clear. The only thing i do not understand, is why I need to increase the Min% Pixels used. Should I use this feature with this high value everytime I am doing a track in mocha???
Yeah i saw this tutorial, it helped a lot. The difference is my clip has a different perspective, and the clip to replace is coming from the same source.
thanks a lot!

[Roland] “I’m thinking that you will acquire better tracking data if you started your tracking just as the face begins to be looking straight towards the camera – then, a backward and forward track from this point will work well for you.”
Well Roland, that is what I did thinking that it could be the best way to go. If you have a chance to see the .rar you will see.
for the rest of the explanation, it was really clear. I will see some tutorials on internet to see how they work .
Like always, many thanks.
If you have a chance of seeing the .rar , please let me know.
Thanks!

November 17, 2011 at 12:32 pm in reply to: tracking and replacing a face with mochaHi Roland,
thanks a lot for your help. It was really useful. you could the result on here:
I saw the result is good but not amazing. I guess that maybe later, in order to composite properly I need to add some retouching to the corner pin.
Which are the variables, which it make the effect looks amazing? the plane, the surface?
I was wondering, why in this case, we need to use the align surface? and when in the future could I recognize similar situation for using this trick?
You could download the whole proyect from here : https://www.switchfire.net/face_liquid.rar
maybe you have a hint how to improve it.
Many thanks for your help!!
