I’ve adjusted the levels, taken off the levels filter, and still having a weird reading of less than 0IRE after I render out….during the tweaking of the levels i can set it to where i need it to be but once rendered it goes wonky.
the only way I can get rid of this problem is to Check the box at the top of the waveform monitor that says “setup (7.5 IRE) in premiere pro cs3….but i don’t really get what this has to do with anything

It does read below zero if i turn off the chroma, and with it on too….

i click the button on the top right of my program monitor (prem. pro cs3) and click on Yc Waveform…so digital?

yeah, monitor was calibrated…some footage is just kind of dark….im learning the scopes so i can have a more balanced luminance and what not…tricky stuff

i did try that, with the auto function, and tried to set it manually….the problem is that the footage is mostly surfing footage and it creates flickering for the most part…i’ve tried everything adjusting the temporal smoothing etc but it doesn’t get rid of the flicker….nor does flicker removal…i think its because of the way the lighting is constantly shifting with the white wash from the wave that is creating it…so it didn’t help at all.

so I just added the gamma effect in adobe premiere pro, and dropped the value from its standard 10 to an 8, it worked wonders….is this the best way to do it? cuz adjusting the brightness and contrast looks like trash…ends up making it all really grainy.

I played around a bit with the gamma effect in Adobe Premiere and that seemed to help heaps, when the effect is applied the value is set at 10, and has no effect on the picture, so i drop it to an 8 or 9 and that makes a world of difference….is this what I should be doing?

yeah, it was a 1.5 file, so i have to actually re-do the entire credit sequence…..ughh

haha, yeah I actually upgraded to CS3 when I upgraded to a dual core intel xeon 3ghz processor with 4 gb of ram…so i’m thinking it is up to the task…
