That’s really good detective work on your part!

So you can pair the inputs, !1&2 or 3&4) but still only get one side?

If you swap mics on the adaptor, the audio still only comes in from the same side?

I’m not quite sure what you mean by the 1.1 frequency.

What city are you in and is your G3 a model A, B or C.

What frequencies do you see on the transmitter and/or receiver.

Your SVM has a pad switch, right? Is it engaged?

Live music events are very taxing on any recording setup. Alternative rock groups are among the hardest to get clean. It’s virtually impossible to get a good capture with any mic on the camera. Neither the camera or the mic are well suited for the job you would like them to do. A board feed is a much better way to go.

Hello Ed and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

As Ryan suggests, an expander. I’d try a gate first, because that’s what I’m used to.

Set a gate on each track that only lets that person’s voice get though when they’re speaking.

Sometimes it works very well. Sometimes you get someone with a REALLY BIG VOICE that opens the gates on the other mics and you have to Do as Bruce Watson suggests and fix it in post.

You might get better results if you use headset mics because they are closer to the mouth of the person speaking, as such setting the gate to keep loudmouths out is easier. Not fool proof, but easier.

Some of the better Automixers by Shure and Audio Technica have direct outputs and the main output does the automixing per the above. You could record the iso tracks and the mixed track on different tracks and then go back and touch up where needed.

Hello Jonathan and welcome to the Cow AUdio Forum.

I have a Sound Devices 664. I set it to PolyWav.

When I record, I get however many ISO tracks plus a two-mix. So in your situation, three inputs, three iso tracks. Plus a two channel mix (either dual mono or stereo)that goes out the main output to camera.

When I import that polywav file into FCP, it comes in as 5 tracks. From the top down; the two mix followed by the three iso tracks.

I have never tried to name them in the 664 or in FCP. I just know what they are. I don’t know if FCP can handle that sort of meta data, perhaps it can.
