BTW, there’s nothing to stop you for using the AT4053b in the wide open spaces.

I regularly use my Schoeps CMC641 outside. No problem.

If the duration of the video and audio are exactly the same, you can use Quicktime 7 Pro to delete and add audio files.

There’s probably a handier way to do it, but I haven’t had to figure that out.

The long-term intention of my workflow is able to be flexible and easily integrate into a stand-alone cam mounted setup (no sound person) or a sound bag setup with a dedicated sound person. I’m getting the feeling that the ZFR300 will not be able to do that but not certain yet.’

Why not call Zaxcom in NJ?

If your decision to go SD or Zax hinges on preamps, I don’t think it makes any difference. If you like the idea of Zaxnet, then go that way. SD doesn’t have that.

If you don’t plan to build out your kit that far, then it doesn’t matter.

You seem to be interested in big differences that would tax your g2/G3. How far do you need to go?
For distance, the older Audio Ltd. 2040 I have used had incredible range and I’ve never heard better audio and they are analog. Digital can be better, but good analog is better than not so good digital.

I’m not saying either SD or Zax are not good, just making a theoretical point.

At the end of the day, I think you’ll probably get the zaxcom. I know pros who are very happy with theirs.

Hi Jami and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

Here’s a thought from the low dollar seats: A Zoom Q4 for $299.

It’s a fixed focal length lens but has a two position “zoom.” There is no variable zoom.

It’s white balance is set to daylight, so shooting in incandescent or fluorescent will look red or green.

Here’s my review of it with video clips. The one with Don playing the flute in my “green room” is lit by daylight coming through some nice accordion blinds.

The audio for that clip was: mic and direct guitar to a Fishman SoloAmp. I added a bit of reverb and took the output of the amp to a small mixer. I fed the camera from the mixer.

How’s that work for you?

um, “supposed to be the best preamp you can get in this class…” according to whom? Sounds like a sales pitch.

Maybe if we could hear the click we could help identify its cause.

BTW, I find a Sound Devices MixPre-D or 302 as very solid pieces of gear.

More expensive than Juiced Link, but worth it.

I think English is not Gennady’s first language. From his name I’d say he’s probably somewhere in the former Soviet Union.

I take it that he means he’s not getting enough level from that mic.

Gennady, put the camera on a tripod. If it has a zoom, zoom all the way out. then move the camera as close to you as you can. This will put the mic as close to you as possible.

Plan B: If your computer has a builtin camera and mic, use it instead.

You have a camera that you can’t plug a mic into?

Why can’t you use the camera mic in a very quiet space?

If there’s no way to make that work. Sell the camera and get one that has a port on it.

If you have an iPhone or similar device, there are lavs that can plug into them and you may be able to solve your problem that way.

I’m a big fan of RX. I have ben using RX3 after meeting the izotope folks at AES NY a few years back and following up with Martina McConnon.

I use RX3 every day to clean up SKYPE phone audio for a radio interview show that airs on Family Talk 131 on Sirius/XM. It really makes a difference for our show, “Aches And Gains.”

Although you can’t hear what we started with, the results are audible on any of Pau’s shows here: scroll down to get to the shows…….
