Get an hourly rate and try to get a ballpark figure of what they expect the cost to be.
Have a “deal memo” in writing with what you expect of them and what you expect to do for yourself. Also add a time table and payment table. So much up front, so much halfway through (time wise) and the balance upon completion.
This would be more for music and specific sound effects, but……Do you own the rights to their work or do they? Or do they license the work to you specifically for this production., allowing them to use it elsewhere. Or, is it licensed to you exclusively and none of it may be used by them on other projects with other people?
