Hello Nikos and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

The DR-60D and YAGH are very different animals. The TASCAM unit is a preamp/mixer/recorder.

You say run and gun. Either configuration with a DSLR seems ungainly and awkward for real run and gun.

Does the GH4 record audio well even with the YAGH? Many DSLRs don’t do audio well.

I use a rechargeable pack from BatteryGeeks and had the power lead terminated so it works with my 442 or 664. They were very helpful on the phone.

We recently proved that Canon 5D Mk iii audio from a Tascam DR-60 D was very acceptable. We had to lower the mk iii input gain and adjust the DR-60D line out wheel to get proper level on the camera, but it worked.

I think the trick there was to use as little of the mk iii gain structure as possible.

I assume your lav is unbalanced. For you and other readers that may stumble on this thread, this is precisely why balanced audio connections are preferred. They are much better at rejecting rf than unbalanced connections.

You might try some of those clamp on rf supressors on the mic cable, but no guarantees there.

I suggest a low sensitivity dynamic omni mic like an electrovoice 635a or something similar.

Hi Bob,

Although I was expecting the 650 to be sharper than the 750. his has not been the case. I have a friend with a 750 and his image is noticeably sharper. Don’t know if it’s my camera of what yet. Still looking into it.

He’s using a Fujinon XT17SX4.5BRM K1 lens instead of the stock 750 lens. Don’t know if that’s the difference or not.
