I find rotoscoping that sort of thing in Motion works best. Use the mask tool and animate it. Since the door has straight lines it should be an easy one.

I must not be explaining myself correctly, I just want to see a visual -10db on the FCP meter and not have to monitor it by going back to the tape room and adjusting levels on the deck.

Yes, but no markings for -10db which is required when mastering to dig beta.

    Thanks Jerry.

Currently when we lay back to dig beta we’re having to adjust the audio levels on the deck. Would love to be able to do it from FCP.

I guess I can run -10db tone and put a sharpie mark on my monitor!

  • I’ve been working on Discreet Logic’s Smoke for 8 years and am now using FCP more and more. One difference I can’t figure out is the audio metering. On other higher end systems you have markings for -10 db which is how most audio designers send there audio.

On FCP you have -12 db. Is there anyway to change the meters or customize them?

Also we normally put tone of -20 db on tape. FCP defaults to -12db. Why?

    Thanks.
