  • That sounds strange- how are you testing the position of the lights?
When you say camera angle- you mean a second camera or moving the camera in a second position?

I just did a test and the lights are not moving – as they should not.
Load up your project and we can take a look at it.

    Yep- one Null per Light.
If I have a rig of lights though where I want the position and rotation to be separate and at the same time to rotate all lights with one control, I use individual Nulls with rotation parented to a separate “Rotation” Null and position to a “Position” Null – hope that makes sense.

I found it easier to link the light to a 3d Null and move the Light using the Null controls.

I do not know of any cost friendly solution, but there are a few mixers out there that can key and composite a live signal.
If you just want to setup the angles with AE, shoot some footage, do a quick key and comp over the plates you have and adjust. 3-4 tests should give you the right angles.
However, I recommend using a 3d virtual set in AE. Zaxwerks Invigorator or Proanimator can provide the right tools to easily and quickly create a virtual set, even if you are not a 3d person. You can do the camera angle matching in post quite easy with that.

  • Ok, now it makes more sense. Are the number images with alpha? If so, you could import the stills (9 to 0) on separate layers and then create 3 separate clips with alpha – one where each still layer is a second long (all layers =10 sec), the second with 10 seconds (just 5 to 0 to make up 1 minute) and the third 1 minute (4 to 0, to make 5 min). Then you can build your countdown.
Are you sure though you can’t find the font?

  • I would finish all fx in AE matching the original footage look and feel and then do the grading in Resolve.

Sounds good, but without seeing the footage and the final comp it’s hard to give precise feedback. It may be that you could use several layers of grass in 3d space. A matte with the original grass footage on top may be what you need, but it may be that you could use some animated grass created in Particle Illusion comped on top using a 2d track… hard to say.
