What are the most likely causes to a file corruption of this type?

My file was up to around 14Mb on an older system with not much RAM.

Should I perhaps avoid bloating my FCP files?

So in my situation, capturing through firewire is superior to component, now I’m wondering what my capture and sequence settings would be.

Any comments and reiterations are much appreciated.
