  • Are you wanting a DDR to do frame accurate insert edits? Good luck. Especially if you want to see pre and post rolls. I’m not sure if the 422 control on the hyperdeck is supposed to be for capture or playback.

EVS in edit/rec works under 422 control (by creating a new clip every time you are in ‘record’ and putting it in the right place in the playlist that is the record tape). Abekas had some solutions that never quite worked.

The interest in this went away with ‘linear’ or ‘tape’ editing… not to say it wouldn’t be useful (eg. if you wanted to fix a typo in an hour long quicktime…).

Mind you editing with the EVS in edit/rec is neither linear nor tape 😉

  • Quick way of ramping up and down is to map ‘head fade’ and ‘tail fade’ to a key.

Then parking at point requiring full volume and hitting ‘head fade’ will put a dissolve from the head of the clip to the position you are parked at. No keyframes required.

    (Also works for video)

    Ankit

Thanks again. Definitely add snapshots to the wish list – Emems with effects/dissolve might be trickier but surely snapshots can’t be too hard?

all the best with the ATEM

Thanks Ankit for that prompt response… so it’s possible to enable and disable the frame syncs?

Also, are there any emems or snapshots possible with the ATEM?

    Hi Bob

What’s the delay (if any) through the ATEM? The website claims frame syncs on each input – so does one need to delay program audio by 1 frame to maintain sync?

I see there’s 2 channels of analogue audio that goes through the system and is embedded (and presumably delayed if necessary).

    Thanks

Not Sure this is the right forum for Cinema 4D… but have you selected the right part of the movie? It might start with black.

In the material editor click on the icon representing the movie and go to the animation tab – you can change the start and end point.

and the easiest way… use the head / tail fade transitions

    1. enable track (eg A1)
    2. park timeline at point you want fade to start (or end in the case of a head fade)
    3. press tail (or head) fade shortcut.

    excellent tool

(yes I too have done the cmx/paltex/sony/editbox/fcp/whatever route – you have to learn this stuff

[Michael Hancock] “For sound, just move the clips to a lower track and disable the track.”

For video you could do the same (move to a higher track and only view the tracks below. It is a good FCP feature though. You can always put a request in here.

I think it has been requested before though…

  • Have a look at this

I don’t have any experience of it though.
