  • Cannot get audio levels to ramp up. Keyframe causes entire track level to go up and down

Hey all. Sorry for the noob question. (former FCP user here)

I’m trying to ramp up the audio for a track. I’ve set the track to “auto gain'” I then went and added two keyframes. One at the start, and the other that I want to ramp to. When I go to click and drag the keyframe it causes the level for the whole track to go up and down.

I see the little finger pointer icon that shows I’m grabbing the individual keyframe, but it’s treating it like all the keyframes are linked. I even added a few extra keyframes to see if I could manipulate them, but they still cause the level for the entire track to go up and down. Any help?

    Thanks.

I guess you’ve got in and out points marked, so you’re moving all the keyframes between the marks together. Delete the in and out marks and you’ll just change the keyframe you’ve selected.

    That did it. Thanks.

Quick way of ramping up and down is to map ‘head fade’ and ‘tail fade’ to a key.

Then parking at point requiring full volume and hitting ‘head fade’ will put a dissolve from the head of the clip to the position you are parked at. No keyframes required.

    (Also works for video)
