I know I’m being cautious in this but I want to have all my ducks in a row before I proceed. I didn’t understand how the process works, at least having to do with SD being seen as HD. I’d rather not start a major project only to find out later I should’ve gotten more info before hand. Thank you, you’ve been a huge help and it’s great to know this community is here to provide help like this.

Note taken. What I also have a question for are dvds that are 720×480, but say they enhanced for HDTV. I would think a film that is 720×480 would have borders on both sides when watched on an HDTV, but not in this case. It fills the whole screen, like an HD film should. Should these also be taken in at 720×480, or does this require a different procedure? Is this simply the DVD or player being smart?

Now that’s an answer! Thank you, that answered all my questions and I even learned some new things about the architecture of it all. Much appreciated!

Thank you, it’s good to know exactly what format is the best for this. Now is Apple ProRes 4444 the one I should go with? I noticed a 422 and other options under this name. I’m kind of late into the HD came, having filmed SD broadcast for so long.
