Indeed, all the info is there in the XML, it is just a matter of parsing the stuff, which I don’t believe anyone has done… yet.
If you wanting to try in a hurry, use X to 7 and export the data from there.

A bummer there are no out of sync indicators. However, you can get audio back in sync in some cases, sorta.
Select your clip that has detached audio (not broken apart clip) and hit shift-F. This will reveal the clip in the event browser. Then shift-R to replace it, and it will bring back the audio and video.
Note that this does not currently work for broken apart clips, just detached audio. If you try to shift-F on broken apart clips you’ll see it does nothing.

[Oliver Peters] “If you promote a tool that supposedly anyone can use and it’s cheap, then the skills you bring to the table aren’t valued.”
Same thing happened in the 90’s with “desktop publishing”. If history is any indication, workflows will be simplified, and talent will win out in the end.

I can understand your frustration. However, I have had zero problems with many animation codec exports from AE to FCP X. I have since started rendering everything to ProRes 4444, because frankly Animation Codec is very old and seems to take a big more juice to decode.
Something must be up with that file. Perhaps the frame rate is odd, or the way the alpha channel is exported. Does it have any odd characters in the file name? You might want to look at how FCP is interpreting the footage and the alpha. Look in the inspector under Info and then choose “settings view”.
If you want, post the file here and I’ll test it on my system.

No it works just like Sequences did in FCP 7. Just create a empty compound clip in the event browser to edit in and dupe it as needed.
No extra steps needed, and it uses the same render files you used in the previous version of the edit.

I’ve been using the workflow you describe and it indeed works very well.
Typically my rule of thumb is that if I am editing a short simple project (like a TV spot) I edit and increment compound clips. For longer timelines I use projects and organize them like this:

Something is up with the file indeed. I would re-render from AE as ProRes 4444. See if that helps.

Echo is very difficult to remove. Under levels try Enveloper. You can start with the preset of “Room Killer”.

My audio interface only has settings in Audio MIDI for 16 bit, but it looks like the settings are overridden by FCP X because it is setting channels.
As far as FCP X being able to handle 24bit audio it can without troubles (I just brought in some 24bit audio from ProTools and it played without issue).
