What I found interesting was how they embraced everything that is the strength of X

That skimmer was mentioned countless times and the timeline with connected clips. The organization.
It just simply comes down to if you think that timeline is a strength or not.

If you think it is a weakness the program will never be for you. No matter if It had Multi-cam or not.

His breakdown of why he felt Apple was committed to top pros was good also. Many that were obvious to me from the beginning.

I remember when X came out and the reviews on Apples site where pretty bad. I looked up the reviews on the new Motion and they were really good. I found that curious.

I don’t really hand anything off to anybody who would start making changes to my motion project.

I havn’t had many problems with the waveforms so far but I will change course if I do.

I just did a shoot with my F3 and the client’s 5d as a b-camera but I didn’t cut it.

For the most part it was very good at it. I’m surprised at how good it can sync even with pretty bad audio.

I didn’t have Plural Eyes back then.

But even if I had, I still would have moved to X because it was a 64 bit program and had other tools that 7 didn’t have.

Now I have all those tools plus the angles.

That doesn’t bother me Andrew, I want the program to be better. They improved Multicam and it’s even better.
I don’t know if they added because of people slamming, but maybe.

I’m not really guessing your workflow, I’m saying on this specific feature it worked for some and didn’t for others.

I used it for Multicam because I liked that it could sync faster than I could. I couldn’t cut on the fly, but with cameras with no TC it could sync in a snap. That wouldn’t change for me if I did those shoots every day.

I was on shoots when people were using clap boards. We all were. I had that clap board app on my phone.

I stopped using it.

It wasn’t a work around. They built the ability to sync through sound into X on purpose.

You couldn’t select on the fly as fast but you could sync faster. If anything it was a wash.
For me the edge went to syncing faster because that part wasn’t as fun or creative.

When I explain why I do something it may seem like I’m saying “you should make the same choice”
I’m not. I’m saying why I made my choice you are saying why you made yours.

Especially if 2 of those 5 cameras were Gopros with no TC. Or the other 3 were off by just a few frames

I couldn’t select cameras on the fly as fast but I could sync faster. The selecting of camera is the fun and creative part. Syncing was nuts and bolts.

This take always stuck out to me early on.

The thing is, “everybody” that edits for a living does multicam work from time to time. It wasn’t anything unique and it wasn’t something that you couldn’t do in X

In fact I found it rather easy and faster to do in X even “before” they added that new system that rocks.

You could synchronize clips through the waveforms from the very beginning and the whole point of synchronizing clips was to do………….multicam edits : )

Instead of having to match frame by eye or by TC in a matter seconds X already had all the clips ready for me.

I would just go along and blade the clips hitting ‘v” and blading it was fast and simple. I would fine tune with the trim tool. Many of us did it.

It was a different way of doing it and I liked it. Nobody made me like it. I just did.

I didn’t mind doing it differently because it was already faster for me having it do all the syncing than me doing it.

Folks were like “I can’t use it because I need to do multicam”

I was like “this makes short work of multicam”
