I noticed that Damian Allen is the instructor on Sound Editing in FCPX on ripple training.
His resume looks like this

How about loading in that footage in REAL time. I was just remember how much I miss that : )

Lynette, how much are you all spending on tape stock a year and maintenance on those old machines?
It seems to me that’s how you sell getting an HD cam to them.
‘We save this $ amount of money by getting out of tape.”
I don’t miss buying tape AT ALL.
As far as those folks who are asking for VHS I would just tell them we don’t offer that anymore. It’s not cost effective for us.

Not to cut with though Shane. Fox still wants to have a backup recoding (not in the truck) for archive but we don’t go to the shelf for that to cut.

What about my crowd Shane?
Almost every major league sporting event I cover, the footage comes in the door P2 or XD
Shooters trim their stuff up in-cam before it reaches the truck. (we don’t have time to mess around)
We do a ton of time-lapse stuff in sports, all on cards. That stuff looks great.
I worked on MLB spots for the ALL-STAR Game this week. All P2 out of Busch
I know some folks need tape, but don’t sleep on sports my brother. Big time viewers, big time money.
Melts out the door on TB hard drives and on to the next city.
LIVE TV is high end. It’s just done LIVE and fast

I buy for me. As do most.

Why is that, barely anyone is broadcasting @ 1080… and of those, who is streaming at anything above 1 or 2Mbps?
Correct, accept for the 8k in Japan that was pointed out.
I don’t see them broadcasting it to you right now. I see it more like loading hi res stuff from a drive or something like that.
Just like people go to the red box to get a ‘sd’ dvd, you could pick up a flash drive with super hi res
content.When you say right now you are already done. These people don’t think about right now.
They think about 10 years down the line.

It would have to be seamless with my computer. Like I’m working on FCP X and I get up and walk into the other room and it’s on that TV also. All my files interconnected. Then I hit mission control and watch the ballgame or the Wire.
Also the only TV you can buy is 1080
This TV would have a higher res than that.
If it’s just a 1080 tv like the rest yeah, people won’t see it as different enough.
