[Mitch Ives] “BMD clearly borrowed from X… now I’d like to see Apple borrow from R11…”
We agree, I would to.
The competition should make them all better, which will be better for us as editors : )

[Mitch Ives] “If you’re all cuts and dissolves, none of this matters.
“That’s an interesting take on it when you consider that X was released with a new version of Motion, which makes it the opposite of cuts only.
The main reason I gave X a look in the beginning when others thought it was a toy, was I looked at the good reviews the new Motion was getting at the time.
I don’t see that option in R 11 at this point.
X has a ton of audio tools. They moved the power of Logic into X
I didn’t see that type of power in R 11 either, maybe it’s hidden.I think it’s a tip of the hat to Apple to see them trying so hard to rip X off.
the inspector window, the straight up copy of those audio fade handles
those things are without getting into the organization I like in X and the “track-less” timeline.
They should have ripped off the skimmer also. I loooove me some skimmer : )

[Charlie Austin] “The deciding factor for me is the one, very important thing that Resolve has which X does not. Tracks”
Yes.
11 looks really cool and if there was no X I would be on it
I like too much about X at this point.

These are good points, Douglas.
I have to wonder, given the flat out bashing and trashing that Apple took from the rollout, you could look at the numbers and say not bad.
It was a PR rollout disaster, so are those good numbers with such a stumble out of the blocks?

[Franz Bieberkopf] “Does 1 million users support the idea that Apple is achieving a wider, less specialized user base outside of facilities and traditional ‘professional’ enclaves?”
I’m not sure, because I think what’s hurting Apple’s numbers more than anything is young people coming out of school with no money to buy a new Mac.
In my town, post houses closed and stations cut back workers as our Union battles the NBC affiliate for a fair wage.
I’m sure my town in not unique.
I have a cousin coming out of school this year with a com degree and a new Mac is not even on her radar.
Would she run X, I don’t know, haven’t even talked to her about it. Why dangle it if it’s not an option.

[Lance Bachelder] “Pinnacle, which has a somewhat cool consumer NLE by the way, would this forum even exist – I say no.
“You might be right Lance, I can only speak for myself. There were two reasons I went with X
One, I liked the program, and two, I felt like Apple had an advantage being that they can basically give their product away for almost free. Their competitors can’t really do that.
I didn’t want to have to change again in a few years if somebody went out.
I feel like Apple’s cheap X price had something to do with CC rental and that whole rental thing has many folks bulking even though it’s a really good product.
I don’t know what will happen long term but I still think I made safe bet.

[Lance Moody] ” (I don’t want to call a sequence, a project, goddamnit.).”
I don’t really think too much about the names because I always relabel them to call them what I want anyway.
I don’t leave the word “EVENT” there, in my case with, lets say with my doc, the event is the name of the person I interviewed and would contain their sit-down, b-roll and pics, and the project is changed to whatever section I’m working on.
Like Westlake. I’m looking at the word Westlake, not project.

It’s also a way to do a quick split edit.
I often want to hear a person’s voice before I see them on camera and I will just drag a clip under another one.
Say that there is a b-roll shot on the main and I want to hear the next interview under that b-roll before I see them.
You can just drag that interview under the clip ahead of it.

[Jeremy Garchow] ”
“This is my living room, this is where my dad sleeps (points to bed in the living room), (points to couch in living room) I lay down there … sometimes”
“That made me sad when he said that, and when his videos seem to devolve into almost a soft core porn
to get attention. He was a talented skateboarder, wish it had been enough.
But a topic for another day.

[Charlie Austin] “Legend is, for all intents and purposes, free at this point. And readily available. Anyone with a little internet savvy and a torrent client can get it in no time. ;-)”
It was always free, if somebody gave it to you : )
You didn’t need to be that savvy, they just give you the disk and code.
