Ok so is this same problem also occurring in Sony Vegas 12 as well? Like, did Sony ever come up with a fix for it?

  • Thank you for your response. It is a big help. Would I be able to upgrade the current ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB Video Card that is currently in the Mac Pro to a newer card that would be an improvement in render speed? If so, is there a list of approved new video cards that are compatible with the Mid 2010 Mac Pro? One you would recommend?

    Thanks again.

  • I agree. What i ended up doing was using Cinema tools to conform the 30p raw footage files to 23.98fps to match the other footage and sequence. Worked perfectly. Then I just went back and re adjusted the cuts of the 30p shots that were already on the timeline. The 30p footage that I converted played back smoothly. Also made a backup of all the original footage just incase things did not work out right using cinema tools to conform. Thanks for everyone help.

  • Are you suggesting that I need to convert all of my 30p footage to 24p first, with compressor and then bring those shots back into my 24p sequence for the final export of the entire project?

I tried to download Sony’s latest firmware for the EX1r but their download page for it seems to not function properly when using Safari. I tried using Google Chrome instead and everything on each sony page loaded correctly and the download started without a problem. Weird. Also, is there any particular software that I will need in order to install the new firmware into the EX1r? I am on a Mac with Snow Leopard 10.6.7

Problem solved. I totally forgot about the A/V cable that came with the camera. I connected that from the EX1r to the monitor and the image showed up on the Steadicam Pilot Monitor. Essentially, there was never a problem at all. I just thought that since the Stedicam came with a bnc to RCA adapter that they expected you to go out of the SDI and to the monitor which isn’t possible with the type of monitor the Stedicam has. Anyways, thanks for responding. I appreciate everyone’s input. Great forum.

The Monitor on the Stedicam Pilot is in fact Analog. It only has RCA video inputs on it. So based on what you have said, I need to set my Sony EX1r output to Composite Out so that it is an Analog signal coming out of the SDI Out port on the EX1r and into the Monitor’s RCA video input. Correct?

I just tried this and I still have no image on the Stedicam Pilot’s Monitor. Out Select is set to Composite, and the Video Out Display is set to On. I believe my camera’s firmware is currently V1.10

I hope that’s the latest firmware available for my camera. Not sure though.

Haha, wow. They hid that very well because at first glance I never saw that at all. Thanks a lot. Appreciate it.

  • Thank You so much for your response. Again, im still getting used to the camera since i just got it. I knew there was something i was missing and that switch indeed was it. lol. Problem solved. Thanks again. This forum is the best.

  • Yes, already knew that. Thats why im running it all out of an external fw800 drive. Hence, the 1TB connected via fw800. Does anyone know of any settings i might need to change or set for me to see this stuff playing back smooth?
