  • i had one hard drive connected to the fw400 port, and my 1TB drive connected to the fw800 port. No i did not have the 1TB going from fw800 to fw400 cable hooked up. 800 to 800.

  • Yea, my 1TB barely has anything in it. Now, my internal hard drive in my lap top has 88 GB free. is that enough or do i need to clear it up even more? What about settings in final cut, is there anything i need to have set? It plays back, dont get me wrong, it plays back fine, but maybe its just me, but it does not seem like its smooth the way it should be. Something is for sure wrong when u hear the audio not synced with the video image your seeing. the audio finishes before the clip is even done playing.

Yes i do plan on doing this on a custom built PC that will run leopard. Idk how my friend does it, but hes got Leopard running on one that he built. He said the MAC OS is very picky and therefore he has to use a certain video card, a particular NVIDIA card works with it just fine. It really isnt that expensive for the parts. Wed basically be using an Inter Quad, all intel internals as far as the CPU goes. The hard drives would be raid setup since i hear this is the best performance for handling HD if im correct. But lately ive had second thoughts about all this, Its alot of money to be able to shoot and edit HD and if im dropping this much money to begin with, idk if i wana run the risk compatability issues with a setup such as that. I havent seen his setup run Final Cut or do any video stuff just yet so its not like its been tested and proven. Now im looking into an actual MAC PRO that is just gona rape me price wise. Idk, ill figure somethin out.
