    Hi Dave, thanks for the reply.

    I made the footage myself. Basically a video with smoke in it followed by 2 more video tracks, one containing text and the other a media generator for the effect in the letters. That and various other video effects.

    Anyway, i’ve tried using main concept (render details below)but there doesn’t seem to be much of a difference. Regarding Encode Mode, should i be selecting OpenCL or CUDA? Would these options make any difference? I’m really at a loss here.

    @Norman.

    I’ve tried upping the bit rate, up to 16bit, but the end result is just the same.

    @Dave.

    I must have been messing about with a few settings and forgot to change the resolution back. That said, I’ve tried matching the resolutions on previous occasions, but again the quality remains to a much lesser standard than the preview.

    Is there anything else i could try? What format is best recommended? When i select ‘Mainconcept AVC/AAC’ there is an option to encode with OpenCL or CUDA (if available). What are these, should i be using them to enhance quality?

  • Hi mate, thanks for the reply

    I’ve had problems with updating to the new AMD drivers before (my previous topic). Previously i installed the latest AMD driver and the colours in media generators started to behave oddly. So i reverted back to the old AMD driver and the problem was solved.

    So i have my reservations regarding updating to the latest drivers for this moment in time (especially considering i have to through a process of using driver sweeper). This issue although an irritation, it’s a livable irritation, although the media generators issue is not. Just to note, when i had the latest driver installed i could turn off ‘gpu acceleration’ and the problem would be solved. Although, needless to say that is not a long-term solution as everything is a little more jerky with it switched off.

    Do you have any other ideas on what the issue could be?

    Spec:

    Windows 7
    RAM 8 GB
    AMD HD6670

    Hi mate, thanks for the reply.

    It’s already turned off, in fact i cannot even change the option as it’s greyed out.

    Do you have any ideas on how to correct the problem? As i said i tried an old driver, a driver that i use to use with Vegas and had no problems. Now even that driver has problems.

    Nope, only 12.

    Update:

    It’s definitely the graphics driver. I tried an old amd driver, and for whatever reason the problem remained (even though it worked previously with this version). So at the time, i assumed the driver was not the issue. However. when uninstalling the old driver and was about to reinstall the new driver, i thought i’d test if Vegas now worked (without any driver installed). It did, all the noise generated media worked worked and displayed the correct colours.

    So i’m assuming something went wrong when i first installed the new driver and ever since then it has not quite worked correctly.

    When i first installed Vegas 12, although I’m not entirely sure, but i think it was working correctly but as Vegas only lasted a couple of mins before crashing i can’t say for sure.

    This is the crash report after first installing vegas 12:

    Problem Event Name: AppHangB1
    Application Name: vegas120.exe
    Application Version: 12.0.0.394
    Application Timestamp: 5086cf03
    Hang Signature: ad30
    Hang Type: 256

    —————————–

    It has not crashed since.

    Anyone have any ideas on how i can fix the problem? I am at a loss.

    Hi, thank you for the reply Graham.

    Sorry to ask this of you, but do you know where i can find “amd catalyst 12.10” on the AMD website. I’m not really all that great with this sort of thing and there seems to be a fair few options on the site, so i’m a bit lost.

    I’ve read in quite a few places that i should have uninstalled the old driver and then installed the new one. This is where i may have went wrong. I just installed it over the old version.

    Also, if this does not work, would installing the old driver be safe?

    Thank you again!
