Posted by Tony Pas on November 24, 2012 at 8:48 pm

Hi guys, have already posted this problem but have yet to find a solution. As my first post is way down the forum and in a sense ‘lost’, i thought i’d post it again as i am desperate. I have various uni projects i need completing before Christmas, so any help getting my Vegas working again would be so much appreciated.

All the relevant info is in the following thread:

    https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/24/956323#956323

Please read my subsequent posts after the first post as i have posted info that may be important to solve the issue.

Any ideas as to why i’m not? It’s not just the lava Generated media, but a few more (described in the other thread).

    Oh, righto!

It is starting to “appear” like a graphic card driver issue.

If you’ve already followed and applied Steve Rhoden’s advice, and still it’s a “no go”, see if you can get back to or reinstall the GPU driver? Maybe your card is unstable?

This way beyond my abilities. I can’t help further here, sorry.

Hi, thank you for the reply Graham.

Sorry to ask this of you, but do you know where i can find “amd catalyst 12.10” on the AMD website. I’m not really all that great with this sort of thing and there seems to be a fair few options on the site, so i’m a bit lost.

I’ve read in quite a few places that i should have uninstalled the old driver and then installed the new one. This is where i may have went wrong. I just installed it over the old version.

Also, if this does not work, would installing the old driver be safe?

    Thank you again!

Do you still have Vegas 11 installed along with Vegas 12?

    Nope, only 12.

    Update:

It’s definitely the graphics driver. I tried an old amd driver, and for whatever reason the problem remained (even though it worked previously with this version). So at the time, i assumed the driver was not the issue. However. when uninstalling the old driver and was about to reinstall the new driver, i thought i’d test if Vegas now worked (without any driver installed). It did, all the noise generated media worked worked and displayed the correct colours.

So i’m assuming something went wrong when i first installed the new driver and ever since then it has not quite worked correctly.

When i first installed Vegas 12, although I’m not entirely sure, but i think it was working correctly but as Vegas only lasted a couple of mins before crashing i can’t say for sure.

This is the crash report after first installing vegas 12:

    Problem Event Name: AppHangB1
    Application Name: vegas120.exe
    Application Version: 12.0.0.394
    Application Timestamp: 5086cf03
    Hang Signature: ad30
    Hang Type: 256

    —————————–

    It has not crashed since.

Anyone have any ideas on how i can fix the problem? I am at a loss.

Well, now you know specifically that your graphics driver is
    the problem….

Do you have any ideas on how to correct the problem? As i said i tried an old driver, a driver that i use to use with Vegas and had no problems. Now even that driver has problems.
