Well I wouldn’t say that this was a useless post as, even though I read about “fit to fill” I was not aware that it automatically changed the speed. That’s good to know.

To answer your question Bret, in Premiere there is a tool that you can use on a clip once it’s already placed in your timeline that will, via automatically changing the speed, rate stretch a clip simply by dragging the outpoint of the clip to your desired endpoint in the timeline. Essentially the same thing I suppose.

[Ken Pugh] “one of these is the ability to play forward from the timeline a pre-determined amount of time (eg 12 or 24 frames) without having to move the cursor (eg without initiating play mode)”

    Hi Ken,
Sorry to hijack your post but could you expand a little bit on exactly what this involves? It sounds like something that would be useful to me but I can’t quite rap my mind around it. I make a lot of musically synchronized edits and often hit the play/stop key. Does you method ease that somewhat? Thanks in advance.

  • Been doing this for quite some time (in FCP). Can be a little twicky with some footage but as reported, does provide excellent results!

  • Yes do be sure you purchase the correct upgrade because if you don’t, you wont be getting a refund when it doesn’t work! Then you will REALLY be disappointed.
