I’ve run into that before. I think I choose another clip from the same shoot different shot and it worked. Might try that if you’ve got another clip with the same coloring as you’d like to match.

I know that in FCP 6, when you drop a clip into a new sequence, it will ask you if you want to match the timelines settings with the clip when it’s the first one dropped into the timeline and the settings don’t already match. If your version doesn’t do that, I would recommend downloading the free MPEG Streamclip and use that to batch convert your original media to whatever the codec of your timeline inside of FCP is.

If you’re using FCP X you don’t need to use MPEG Streamclip. When you import a file, X will transcode it to a correct ProRes codec for you according to how you set up the import.

After Effects or Motion for the graphics and grunge effects and film damage / light leaks for the lighting effect. You can purchase them online and overlay them on your footage and applying different compositing modes to them.
