The only thing retarded is the guillty party who allowed or created the mess in the first place during the shoot.
Was this a case of a producer not being willing to pay for an engineer or gear necessary to provide jam sync timecode to all the camcorders?
Well suck it all up and bill them double for all your extra time.
The phrase “We’ll fix it in post” does not apply here ….. at least not cheaply.

Are you considering using the camcorder to “digitize” from.
If so this is a bad idea long term. The camcorder transport was not designed to be used for constant searching and shuttling.
In general putting additional wear and tear on the camcorder heads and transport is highly discouraged.
Rent or buy a playback vtr which is the proper tool for frequent use.

You also need to be considered with trusting someone off the street with your personally security as well as the safety and care of the equipment package you may arrive with.
Hiring a random person with no prior experience dealing with film or tv productions could be an invitation to get ripped off.
I am speaking generally based on my working experience overseas not specifically to India.

Whatever the camera display is one matter but what actual gets recorded to tape is more important.
Depending on what your applications are the spacial resolution from the camera and recording medium will have a major impact on your needs.
You can’t have it cheap, quick and ultra high resolution all in the same package at this time.

Next time find a man who can actually run the camera and set proper exposure.
No one can create a miracle out of a mess from the get go.
If you charged the client for that unmanned camera deduct it from the bill and all will be well when the client complain about the overexposure issues.
Or better yet do not use any of the footage and treat it like the camera was never on location. Tell them the tape self destructed due to the over exposure thereby melting as a result of the intense heat.

Peter,
The blue only on the PVM-14L5/1 or 20L5/1 will display as gray bars not the blue you may be accustomed to in earlier models.
In either case the concept of monitor calibration is the same between the two.

Well to start the F900 CCD is 1080×1920 thereby allowing full raster recording to HDCAM SR. The 350 is 1080×1440 so no full raster recording is possible.
This is a major difference if you need the maximum spacial resolution for your purposes.

The producers do not want to offer free product placement advertising to certain products and/or have not obtained the rights to use other material such as the prints.

Try find a computer that still uses 8″ or 3 1/4″ floppy disks.
In ten years P2 will be a long lost medium.

Is your scratch disk were renders are directed to full? If it is filled up then no renders would be possible.
In anycase check your scratch disk settings.
