Are the Adobe products on a Mac or PC?

After you import go to the alpha column in the browser and set the alpha channel. You did output from AE with colors set to millions+?

When you export from iShowU, you must export to a format and specification that exactly matches the FCP sequence settings you’re going to be working in. If you do not, the media you bring from iShowU will changed, reprocessed, recompressed, rendered out, modified, whatever you want to call it into the sequence settings you’re using in FCP. The media will have to be rendered for output, and if your computer is not fast enough, may even have to be rendered for playback. That includes all of the specs for the video, not just the frame rate, but also the frame resolution and codec. This is basic to the way the software works.

This is not a video standard frame resolution. No sequence settings in FCP support it.

What you see in the viewer is the actual file you imported. What you see in the Canvas is the file in the format that it’s being processed into in the sequence. Ideally the format and codec and every specification you export from iShowU exactly matches the FCP sequence, then there will be no reprocessing in the sequence.

I’ve heard that Adobe is making noises about this procedure, saying it should not be used, as it may be broken by future development. Part of an Apple/Adobe tit for tat war? Maybe.

Could you post a screen shot of the item properties of the clip and a screen shot of the item properties for the sequence in which you’re editing before you put a shot into the sequence and change its settings.

This is the DVD for Final Cut Studio (2009). There is a separate disc just for FCP7 as well as discs for other versions.

“Final Cut- ProRes>1280X720 24P (Apple ProRes 422)(30fps)”

So you’re outputting 1280×720 ProRes from iShowU, but you’re giving me two different frame rates. Which is 24fps, or 29.97fps?

After you import this media in FCP, you edit in a sequence that exactly matches these properties, the same frame resolution, the same codec, the same frame rate, either 24fps or 29.97.

Try opening the exported file into the QT player and report exactly what it says in the movie inspector.
