If you want to play back at higher than 4k resolution, you will need to cut your workspace into left/right/middle streams. These can be rendered out at up to 4k for each stream, then with synchronised solid state media players you can have ultra high resolutions playing back.

Interestingly, in the last 6 months we’ve been having many, many more enquiries from smaller firms with ambitious ideas. The challenge for us seems to be developing an instinct for those that will progress with a project, versus those that will take a lot of our time before postponing. Hopefully signs of an economy that is starting to lift….

Yeah I noticed that jigsaw24 seemed to have some in stock in the uk but we’ve specced ours up with more ram and GPU so looks like a month wait for that.

How much should I charge for 2d/3d logos, and 2d/3d animation per second?

I got a quote of just a shade over £7400 which was the top spec 12 core, 64Gb RAM, top spec GPU and 256Gb SSD.
I’d say that for the build quality, reliability and high standard of parts in the mac range this is a great deal.

Yeah true. I won’t be moving from apple hardware for the time being; it’s reliable, well built and the OS is great.
You would indeed imagine that in a race, xeons would beat i7, I just wonder at what point the gap isn’t big enough for a lot of people to not bother and purchase an imac instead. Obviously apple want people to spend as much as possible with them, so the incentive to purchase additional keyboard, mouse and monitors needs to be high – this would be a clear performance difference between the two models.
I eagerly await some sort of comparison test between the mac pro and the imac.
