…blimey – well credit to you fer sticking with it!!

I think that ultimately, Vegas is cracking – however – the stability issues really spoil what should be an enjoyable experience. Perhaps I expect too much – lets face it – the capabilities of computers in general are absolutely astonishing – and to have editing capabilities such that SV offers for little money is incredible – but perhaps I am getting too ‘off topic’ (I have little experience of forums)

I will use SV10 without thumbs and hope that, perhaps, SV13 will be a stable offering – I dread switching to Premiere – I found the UI ghastly – and Avid is sooooo much £.

    Hey ho.

Thanks so much for reply. Yes – I have seen this solution – however – it don’t work for SV10 – that folder doesn’t exist – but – happy to work without thumbs – shame tho.

I have to say I was going to upgrade to 12 – but downloaded the trial – it just crashed – so gave up and went back to 10.

    Then again – I havent re-installed windows (7X64) for over 2 years (wow!) everything else seems bomb-proof – mebe a clean install – but awwww – what a pain… 😉

    Thanks again.

Thanks for reply. It’s weird but I can confirm that, with thumbs dissabled, my project opens and I can edit to my hearts content. However – as soon as thumbs enabled – in under 10 seconds – blam – good old exception error and that’s yer lot matey!

    I admit I have 2 files on the timeline around 18GB in total – s*d all effects – I mainly use P&C – .mts and mpg4 – hey ho.

Who knows – is it SV10? – SV9 seemed to be rock solid – however – also my new Sony cam records HD so I am dealing with much larger files…

I have (like all of us?) spent hours and hours editing a project – then to find it crash’s – it’s heartbreaking – but I have looked at Adobe forums – Avid forums – they are all the same…. guess I’ll just muddle through….

Gonna go and have my tea now – roast chicken – at least that wont crash… 🙂

yip – same probs here with thumbnails – SV10 is crash central – considering Avid – but so used to how SV works after many years. Switch thumbs off and – no crash’s – so far. SV10 – Grrr…!

Roger – I have constant problems with Vegas 10 crashing but the crashing on opening a project is irksome – all that time wasted. However – I found a workaround. Luckily – all my video files were in a folder named ‘sony’ (just to identify what camera the files were from)So I went to file explorer and renamed the file ‘sony1’ I then opened the project in vegas and it did not crash but, of course the media was missing. I then renamed the ‘sony1’ folder back to ‘sony’ and instructed vegas to find the files and – it worked! Might just work for you. I have particular problems with .mov files and avchd files. Hey ho.
