Is anyone having trouble with Vegas12 crashing while trying to open a vegas12 project. I reinstalled Vegas12 and it worked but today the same thing is happening and it crashes with all my version 12 projects so I can’t open any of them.

    I hope Vegas12 isn’t as bad as Vegas11 was.

Not by a long shot, Vegas 12 is nothing near the failure that
Version 11 was. Have you uninstalled any plugin/filter from
Vegas recently that was in the crashing project?

    Hi Steve,
I don’t know how to read that crash report. Where do you see a mention of a plugin. I do have a few plugins installed including Mercalli and NewBlueII. I think that’s all right now.

Some people had similar messages with Vegas 11 and it was related to Quicktime. Check your system event logs to see if there were any recent installs.

Something else is causing Vegas 12 to be giving you that unexpected
problem. You still have Vegas 11 installed?

I’ve been editing on my laptop while we have been traveling but got back home and installed Vegas12 and it seems to be opening all my Vegas12 veg files OK. I hope it keeps up.
I did notice that when I downloaded Vegas12 this time I got an extra feature that could be installed called profilm or something like that. I didn’t get that option when I installed it on my laptop about a month ago. I’m not even sure what that new additional feature is?

Well, my gremlin is back and I can’t open any vegas12 veg files. I thought this might have been a problem with my laptop but it’s happening on my PC now. Darn!

Roger – I have constant problems with Vegas 10 crashing but the crashing on opening a project is irksome – all that time wasted. However – I found a workaround. Luckily – all my video files were in a folder named ‘sony’ (just to identify what camera the files were from)So I went to file explorer and renamed the file ‘sony1’ I then opened the project in vegas and it did not crash but, of course the media was missing. I then renamed the ‘sony1’ folder back to ‘sony’ and instructed vegas to find the files and – it worked! Might just work for you. I have particular problems with .mov files and avchd files. Hey ho.

    Hi Tommo,
Thanks for the information. John Rofrano discovered that in my case Vegas12 projects were trying to be opened withing Vegas12 with Vegas10 and it crashed. Seems crazy that something like that could even happen but that’s what was occuring so knowing that we could open the Vegas12 file in explorer by choosing the correct program (vegas12) and opening it from there.
Confusing I know but everything seems to be working now. At least for a while until something else goes wrong.
