well, I am trying to make an efficient, easy fx favorite that will do this along with other things to give a certain look.
That would rule out the dup’ing of layers to use as the matte.

any effect do this?

create one diagonal line.
Try using trapcode echospace to duplicate that line.
Looks like in this animations’ lines are laid out in z-space.

There is also a way to do this with expressions…complex tho.

I am having some trouble doing heavy duty AE work on my MacBook.
Heat seems to be an issue.
I have 2 GB RAM.
When I work in AE, no problem (so you may be fine)
But if I try to render a very heavy, processor intensive comp, it heats up to the point where the MacBook just shuts off!
Scary. I guess the MacBook has a heat shutoff temp.

hate to sound lazy (more like busy) but..
are there any PS plugins (or maybe PS macro’s) that can accomplish this?
