I’ve been using this LaCie drive with my FCP. Could PC-generated quicktimes still be dragged to it, or will it not interface at all with a PC?

Thanks, Eli. Will Sebsky encode TC in a PC-based Avid?

Just a follow. The problem cured itself overnight, but cost our facility two days of down time.*

    Thanks, Kevin,

Unfortunately we have tried all those measures repeatedly and are still unable to capture.

    Any other thoughts, anyone?

Okay, so it’s a settings thing. Glad it changes itself arbitrarily. – Not at all confusing. Glad also to be working on the “latest version” of Avid Express, despite that the basic Avid interface and logic are essentially unchanged and un-upgraded from over ten years ago. My hope remains that the complacency of this unholy organization eventually weakens their stranglehold on the marketplace so that other, better-designed programs may finally eclipse Avid.

    Cheerio!

Thanks for the feedback, guys. (And the show mimics the look of a news show, but is not so quick-turnaround). I think I will advise the Producers to look more closely at a linear control room set-up.

May 12, 2005 at 8:00 pm in reply to: No serial control from Express HD

We have ordered an RS-422 adaptor. However, just a follow-up question for safety:

Upon starting Avid Express HD, I am getting the following prompt: “Com 1 is busy and cannot be used for deck control.”

Sound like an issue the converter will solve?

    Thanks!

Negative on Rosetta, etc. Are any external adaptors/components required for controlling a Beta SP machine from Express HD? I don’t recall needing one for Avid Express Pro. (Presently I am just connecting from the PC serial port to the deck.)

    Thanks!
