One of the most innovative asset management tools that we have seen lately is Cantemo Iconik. It utilizes a hybrid on-premise/cloud pay per usage strategy where you point it at your media (NAS, DAS, or cloud) and it generates proxies for tagging and sharing. It’s great in combination with Backblaze. Iconik has solid Adobe workflow, and a newly minted Final Cut interface at IBC. Access is completely controllable per user. They have a demo that enables a good look at it. Highly recommended!

  • Take a look at Facilis Terrablock. It can house a card that will connect to the tape library. The software could be Archiware P5 backup. There is also an archive module for that which is invaluable. It is all quite straight forward, durable and fast.

We are in the Twin Cities and could quote a system, but would want to talk about your workflow first, and ask a bunch of questions about how you do work.

What editing software do you use?

    Juan Carlos,

We have done that very thing for clients by using the Echo Bridge product from GBLabs. https://gblabs.com/products/ECHO_Bridge/

Existing Fiber or SAS storage can be connected to the Bridge, or a switch to the Bridge, and shared out over ethernet. In most cases the performance exceeds that of the SAN since there is no software overhead.

It is very affordable, and extends the life of your fiber channel storage. Awesome product!

    Jeff,

I am curious if you are still seeing crashing. Did you go to 5.0.3, or back to 5.0?

What graphics card do you have in your mac?

    I have a similar scenerio that I am chasing…

    Thanks,

You might mention the up, down, and cross conversion that can happen on the fly. That along with no need to digitize or import footage. Both=money. And they can run it from an iphone. They’ll like that.

Active Storage designed a card that houses 2 hard drives, spinning or solid state, that you put in an XServe to house the metadata for an XSan implementation. They sell 2 of them for $2500 for redundancy.
