Another approach would be to build it in a true 3D program (Blender is amazing and free) then save it as an OBJ file . You can them import this object into Element 3D (plug in) made by Video Copilot which will be displayed and rendered very quickly in AE.
This doesnt use the AE raytracing mode , but will give you the result you want.

Most professionals make smooth moves that can also be attributed to the mounting of the camera. Steady Cam, motion control rigs, jib arms and even tripods are used. Of course the skills of the camera person also a key ingredient as well. 😀
