The next version of PrP that was introduced at NAB this year. Adobe is not referring to it as CS7 Premiere Pro for some reason.

In Premiere Pro Next you can do this just like FCP. For the time being I grab clip, hold down Option, drag to the right then release clip. I then drag with mouse to desired track.

I sure wish we werent relying on Quicktime based codecs like Prores and DNxHD. qt32serve is a real bottleneck that slows down my Z820, which is a rocket with none QT codecs(like MXF OP1a AVC-100)

I had similar problems with my HP Z820 running 32 Hyper threads. qt32serve wont run with over 20 HT being active. Im not sure that this issue is similar to what you are experiencing.

Let me put it this way. Every Adobe person I spoke to at NAB made no mention of it and pushed HARD for the Cloud (at times I felt like I was talking to car salespeople). 😀 When I directly asked about it as an option they told me they could not talk about it.
Rather then wait to find out that is the case when they release the product in a month or so, I though it would be smart to be proactive and let Adobe know how folks felt about being limited to the Cloud.And what alternate option they want (ie the continuation of the perpetual license model).
We will find out soon enough.
