On the road I use 2 CalDigit FirewireVR’s a RAID1 for my P2 cards and a RAID0 for scratch disk. It’s been my setup for 2 years at FW800 speeds and the Duel Adapter in the slot. Never a problem and always gets the job done. In my office I’ve still got a CalDigit S2VRHD and am getting ready to upgrade to HDone.

    Good Luck.

I’ve had some luck getting some of my PC people to view a Quicktime Convert in MPeg4 and viewing it WMP. But Flip 4 Mac is the best.

It does allow the same Barry. I just find that like in the old A/B roll days NOTHING is quick enough! For peace of mind redundancy is a must. I know it’s not always possible. RAID 1 is an excellent way to do it and also HD log allows you to copy to multiple locations like P2 Genie.

Not yet but there is official word from Imagine Products that the new quicktime 7.3 does in fact not work well with MXF and they are suggesting not to update at this time.

ATTENTION MAC USERS of HD Log, P2 Log, P2 Log Pro, and DV Log!

The recent QuickTime 7.3 has caused complications for many software products utilizing its video technology. Imagine Products has also experience such issues with the 7.3 QT update. Please be aware, the update may break QuickTime files from our software as well as other software applications.

While we are working tirelessly to correct the problem and provide our users a timely patch for their software, we ask that you consider NOT updating to QuickTime 7.3 at this time. If you have already done so, please be patient while we find a workaround.

    Sincerely,

    The Imagine Products, Inc. Team

I’ve been very happy shooting in HD and down-converting to SD. It’s a great future friendly work-flow as well should you need to deliver SD now.

I found that it would “seem” to freeze but for some reason it regularly temporarily freezes (sometimes 2 minutes) but it always comes back. I’ve got a 1.25 PBG4

  • I really libe the Wiebetech Combo GB. It’s bus powered, has every interface I care about and I’ve even, albeit slowly, edited full HD off of it right from my powerbook.
