Check to make sure the shots at the end are not moved one line up or down in y-position or that the y-position is either 0 or an even number.

Whoops again. The OP said his AE was rendered out as DV. By changing his sequence compressor to ProRes he’ll get no improvement on the DV render. It’s locked in at DV quality. He should indeed go back and rerender from AE in the better codec. Then change his sequence to that codec.

I hope you guys are enjoying your argument, because I sure am. From my perspective you’ve all really opened a door to this issue and shed some great light on some points that I hadn’t as yet had time to think about.

Is it true that the Windows ProRes component only allows playback (decode) of ProRes movies and not writing (encode) of them? In other words, without Final Cut Studio, you can’t render from After Effects to ProRes, for example. Thanks.

Apple now includes a DEcoder for ProRes in Quicktime 7. But I do not think you can ENcode to ProRes without Final Cut Studio. Which makes ProRes OK for transporting a file to AE, but not back again to Final Cut unless you have FC Studio installed. I’d like to know if I’m wrong on this. – Tom

PNG is another pretty nifty codec in 8-bit, like Animation. I believe you’ll get the frame rate you want with it and it’s lossless at 100%. Also comes standard with Quicktime. Check out what is said here:

It sounds like your key is partially wiping out your subject, meaning the color of the subject is too close to the colors in the green screen. So the keyer is eliminating that part of the image to a degree. If you look at just the matte created by the keyer, you might be able to see that the white part is not completely white. I’m at a loss for the moment. I’d take it to Keylight at this point–in After Effects. Anybody?

Sorry I’m not giving you much to go on. Busy day. PNG, PhotoJPEG, Motion JPEG are all good codecs for near master quality. PhotoJPEG at 75% is a sweet spot. PNG can have an alpha channel.
Then there are downloadable codecs. Look into Apple ProRes 422 to see if it suits your needs. If you want to send out compressed videos for viewing rather than for further editing or compositing work, H.264 is great and is compatible with Flash in some forms.
The linked site has always been great for a description and some understanding of codecs, although it’s getting dated by now.

It looks like DVCProHD is not standard in QT. It comes with FCP and other software perhaps. Look here for std codecs.
