  • I’ve had that happen over the years. It always seems to be very robust transition or a short clip that is from some unusual source. Hang in there and eliminate one small thing at a time…..

Jude, This same error has popped up few times in my work over the years. I too will be interested in seeing the opinions we get. I have found that this might be caused by one short clip, one unusual sequence, or even one very demanding transition from a third party source. I would go back and slowly look at my timeline, especially for those parts that have a red line above them. By trial and error, I’d save my original, make a copy, and then take the copy and delete that parts(s) that look suspicious. Tell us what your timeline contains. For example, are there several sequences? Are there clips of a different format or codex? Stay tuned cause I’m hoping there will be more suggestions from the experts.

Golly, know what, I can’t remember if elements had key frames or not. You might need those to do what you want for titles. Do you have any third party flares? Those would help. It has been so many years. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.Sure wish you could try it. Would you consider going over to the Elements forum and ask? Maybe the Adobe forum. They were always real helpful

I started with Elements many years ago and used it for over 5 years before I upgraded to CS4 and then CS6. It really depends on what you will be producing. If there is not a need for the MultiCamEdit feature and extensive audio correction, Elements will probably do the job for you. Any chance you could try out one video first and see how it goes with Elements ?

  • I use a lot of stills and I’ve noticed that same thing. However, when exported the flicker goes away in the export. Are you viewing your rendered file at half resolution? If so,I’ve seen it there too. Try full resolution preview.

BTW Bobby, If this chart is a bit daunting, I remember the first time I saw it, please ask for an explanation.

Mike, I didn’t see it, if you mentioned it, but you have got to use the Mercury Playback Engine. Check and see if your GPU supports that. MPE makes all the difference in the world.

Ralph, I’ve used the Warp Stabilizer in cases like this. It does wonders for these issues. Depending on the length of the clip(s), it does take quite a bit of time to work its magic though.

Hi Mike. I’ve had that happen more than once. It seems the program has to think it out a bit. I found that if I save the project and close down the program, when I reopen the project, it works. Once I had to completely shut down my computer. Not a very technical answer, but it worked for me.
