So in other words, whether it should be a procedural edit, available for easy change, or single time execution with custom phrase.

Hey Joel, not sure about such a script – but most likely this could be achieved by setting timeremapping expression, which would trigger playback at the certain time.

Now how that ‘certain’ time should be decided.. It depends on the size of layers in comp. Vertical scrolling in Y should be linked to relative position change of videos. And once their layer space transformations enters the global position of a comp – timeremapping would be triggered. Is this sounds as whats needed?

Hey Michael, any chance some motion blur applied in the pre-comps?

See how continuous rasterisation ‘unchecking’ would change the situation. If it does, then most likely there is something inside vans pre-comp (effect/toggle), which causes an issue here.

Hey Lucas, it really depends on the amount of text in a placeholder you/client needs to fit in.

If its relatively not much longer than full sized phrase, then it could be scaled down with expression. However, it content might be significantly more longer, then completely different approaches can be applied.

Please share most common example in action and we could provide more generic approach to suit more than a single case.

While maybe someone will have a definite answer to this – heres what you could do.

~ Render project expressions free.
~ Render project with ALL expressions enabled.
~ Render project with your ‘partial’ enabled expressions/ideas in place.

Compare render times. If difference is hard to be noticed, use more comps, with more layers and more expressions to introduce more of computation on board.

Its one of the best feelings to nail down something by plain analysis, on your own feet, about something, which could have long-lasting benefit. Cheers!

Dustin – looks like its not really the case, unless I misunderstand the use case scenario.

What happening here, is that once you change resolution, position stays properly fixed as per expression suggested, but what doesn’t – is the actual size of the layer, onto which this effect is applied.

Accordingly, you need the following:
1. Scale the ‘layer’ where effects is being applied to match resolution.
2. Re-adjust cards sizes that they won’t get distorted, by composition sizes ratios.
3. Make sure position of the layer is also stays properly centered (depending on the way you change comp sizes)

Let us know whether it helps or how else this could be projected. Sharing .aep with preset applied to the layer would be a good go too.

Hey Ricky, more information is needed about your layout and use case scenario.

1. Are you going to place this strictly in some area of the screen, or not?
2. What flexibility is preferred to adjust there?

Anyways, to breakdown this quickly if this is center aligned:
1. Instead of path, use thin rectangle.
2. Use sourceRectAtTime to get ‘text layer’ size.
3. Apply paddings by attaching sliders to rect shape’s x and y.
4. Animate horizontally by using interpolation: ease(time, inTime, outTme, rectLeftEdge, rectsRightEdge)
5. Apply expression to text and rect shape:

sourceSize = thisLayer.sourceRectAtTime(time, false);
T = sourceSize.top;
L = sourceSize.left;
W = sourceSize.width;
H = sourceSize.height;
([L+ W/2,T+H/2])

Hector, thanks for explanation, this covers the topic well enough.

Basically, you are working with pixels, thus its not possible to make them crisp. What you are seeing after 200k zoom is exactly what is expected – pixels.

The main problem of this client request is that the length is simply unreasonable for this matter, IMO. The speed of animation is too slow to achieve desired result.

Probably it would be more functional if length of video is drastically reduced, animation speed up. Aaand, playbacked in both directions, meaning – zoomIn, zoomOut.

There might be some possibilities of applying Timewarp related effects to introduce blending of frames for the comp, but still not with 3h length of footage, unfortunately ! 🙁

Hey Hector, could you please let us know the following:

1. Is assets being animated – full vector? EDIT (I see its Tiff, but is it possible to get in in a vector?)
2. How long animation is in length? By saying its 3h long, does it mean scale begin at 0s and ends 3hours later? :)) Meaning, its super, super slow interpolation.
3. What is the size of the map in pixels, and the size of the video/composition?
4. What do you call ‘jittery’? I assume its rough animation, which jumps/zooms in slowly, thus, noticeably, but your examples showcases blurry/sharp visuals, which makes it questionable ☺

I think the request you have is trivial and not really possible to achieve 100%. It might be possible to reduce the ‘slowlyness’ amount if its about it, but thats pretty much it.
