    Hello Nate,

thinking about this – would you mind sharing a comp structure which you have with the numbers?

Technically, I would be thinking about pre-compositing all the digits and then control them by time remapping. Seeing how you have them laid out, could help to suggest approach for your setup, or provide other workaround.

    Cheers!

You should consider using interpolation methods. The expression you wrote is only able to put out results of the last line.

By adding these methods, you will be able to control selected property values based by marker time indicators.

March 24, 2018 at 1:16 pm in reply to: Create shape/box based on word index

    Hey Christian,

could you please elaborate more what you mean by this?

    >a shape behind a piece of text that is based around the word index.

    1. Do you want to have a solution, where paragraph of text would have a shape behind the particular word of the phrase, and this should move along the text as you skim through the slider?
    2. Are you going to make that adjustment of highlight, manually?
    3. It needs to work independent from the phrase length?

    Thanks!

  • Dan,

thanks a lot for your input, I had only small chances with fingers crossed that it could be possible.

The best workaround would be to add text word after word, estimating the space gaps between the words while formatting each of them separately?Assuming I have a line of text and creating layer from scratch.

However, in such case ‘Text Animator’ control over the whole phrase would be lost. Seems like win-lose situation here(:

“You can access layers that way, you just can’t change anything. If you want to change something, the expression has to be on that layer’s property”

This is the key what I was trying to figure out. Your example is helpful too, thanks for the help!

This is why I was asking for help, because I was not sure whether if is possible at all to make it work.

Here i will try to explain better:

There is a composition “Layer_1”, which contains 4 layers. By writing this line (comp(“layer_1”).layer(i).position), I hoped that i can access each of compositions layer by index. Is it not possible? And the reason why Im doing this, is because I want pictures to slide from one corner of the screen to another in a period of time(chosen this method, because there can be not constant amount of pictures). For now I am trying to accomplish only this step, to do not make it too complex, but it might be that Im trying to do what is impossible.

If this way is bad, could you try to suggest me another algorithm?

    Thanks.
