    Hi Art,

Thanks for your reply, it looks like this is my only solution they’ve given me:

“Unfortunately, there’s no remedy for the problem at this time. If you need to update to Leopard, we recommend you also upgrade to the newest version of Photoshop.”

Funny thing; because of this damn recession, we’ve all probably had to drop our prices as illustrators/animators/etc. (I had to), but the prices for Macs and Mac-based software remains the same.

Oh well, maybe my “big break” is just around the corner…………………..(;oP?)

    Thank you.
    I’ll try that.

8 MONTHS??!! So sorry to hear that, man.
I’ll drive over there to Kennesaw before letting this go that long!

    Believe me, I can relate.
No one told me or my dealer that G5s were going to be replaced
by the Intel-chipped Mac Pros a month after I purchased my Quad-core either.

Well, looks like this won’t work out for me.

While attempting to install AE, I got a “System Check” window telling me
“This product does not support PowerPC Architecture CPU”, so now I have
to send the software back & get a refund.

Please know that I nonetheless still appreciate your help from all who participated in this thread, but know also that this is the first time I’ve ran up against this condition for any software. So please…..do not “scold” me for not knowing this, ok (I got enough of that on the MacWorld forum)? I am only posting this as a heads-up to any other PowerPC CPU users out there considering an AE purchase.

I went with the consensus and just ordered Adobe After Effects.

All the tutorials I’ve seen here look great, but which would you
recommend I study first for the quickest “kick-start” (both free and to purchase)?

    Thanks again, everyone,

That last sentence was SUPPOSED to say:

“I see now from your replies that though that may be similar to AE, it would NOT allow me to do all I could with AE (which is what I had suspected, but was not sure of).

    Sorry about that.

Right now, I am stuck mostly in 2D but want to break out into the world of 3D as you all have.
    I would like to:

    a) improve my 3D fly-overs/walk-thru animations for my architectural clients
with added quality and effects (https://tinyurl.com/3umatr)…

    b) get into 3D animated graphics commercials for my advertising clients…

    c) and for me, to be able to make animated versions of my graphic novels
and story-board ideas as seen here:

Thanks to you and everyone else who replied. I need to do both compositing and editing & will eventually purchase both apps.

Just so everyone knows; the term “3D graphics and animation with Motion” from the Final Cut web page
is what compelled me to ask this question in the first place. I see now from your replies that though that may be similar to AE, it would allow me to do all I could with AE (which is what I had suspected, but was not sure of).
