Thanks, I need to figure out how to use this thing. Not really sure how to change the blocks. I understand what it means to change the blocks, just don’t know how. I do see that my G3 operates in the 600 MHz range, and the G2 plug I was given is in the 500mhz, at least that’s where it’s set on. So I’m guessing if I change a block, I’ll be able to fine a 600mhz range? Pardon my ignorance on the subject.

    Thanks!

  • I know I’m coming into this conversation late, but I’ve been having this issue with XDcam wrapped in QT’s. they were exported using a tricastor. They will only play on a Mac that has FCP. I’m sharing a project with someone using PPCC2014 and he’s on a Mac. When he handed me the project, I was unable to import the files and view them. I’m not paying $149 for the Callibrated Q decode. I found a workaround by renaming the file extensions to all of the clips to .mp4. Unfortunately, I have to relink every single clip to view the project…over 300.I wish that CC2014 would be able to read the original QT files, but during my research I found that it has something to do with the XDcam codec wrapped in QT. Something to do with a proprietary FCP QT thing.

    Hey guys,

I tried re-linking with the re-link dialogue box and unchecked the file extension tick, still no go. As far as the re-Tooled program, I haven’t tried it yet. There is no trial version of it so I’m a bit unsure of buying it.

BTW I posted this in the Adobe forums and they deleted my post for some reason.

    Thanks Alex,

I really appreciate all the help I get here. In the case of the DP who shot it, all I got was the insinuation that I’m not a professional and lack professional equipment, haha!

    Thanks!

Sorry for so many posts, but here’s what I found. There’s nothing wrong with Premiere importing and play the xd54 footage. It’s XDCAM…that’s not it. It’s the QT wrapper that is causing the problem. XDCam is usually has a .mp4 or MXF extension. FOr some reason the tricaster uses a QT wrapper. So when I changed it to an mpg it worked. I also changed them to an .mp4 and they work.

I have a Sony EX3 and it records as BRAV folders. In there are mp4 files.

    Very weird how this happened.

Actually Tim, I narrowed this down to this family of codecs:
    XDCAM HD422

xd54 is in there. Now I need to know why I don’t have them, where I can get them, etc.

    Searching!

I know Tim…it’s odd, and I’m gonna have to do a lot of work arounds since I’m sharing this project with someone. I called Adobe and they said there was a downloadable x54 prores codec, but they won’t direct me to it. I’m still in detective mode though.

I’ll let ya know! Thanks for everything!

    Hi Tim,

I have the latest QT for Windows 7.7.6 and have Pro which is up to date. I’m able to only get audio, no video after I installed the trial version of Sheervideo Pro. I’ve installed AvidCodecsLE234 and 2.3.8

When I open QT player and choose “open”, I’m getting a thumbnail.

The only things that works is changing them to an mpg.

    Grrr!

Ok…weird. I think I figured this out. Well…I did but it’s odd. I changed the extension to an mpg and it works. It was originally a QT. So now I have to change a million clips to mpg and I’m golden. ODD!

    Thanks Tim,

I’ve called Adobe and they told me that the xd54 codec is available through QT for Windows, but for the life of me I can’t find it. They said it’s a prores codec. I’ve Googled my butt off trying to find it, not finding anything but the $149 decoder. I was told that the tricastor is Windows based and that I should have no problem, which I don’t believe.

    I’m running out of options.
