Ok. I downloaded it, but I don’t see where to tell FCP to use it.
What is the secret?it doesn’t show up in compressor either.

There are no wrong answers. I appreciate your reply.
I still can’t find anything else about it.
My needs are only to export to this codec for delivery.

I found this on the AVID support site…..
The initial problem discribed is not mine, but the first suggestion, seems to indicate that you can, but this is the only place I’ve found that link.It gives me hope, could they be pulling my leg?

Was this discount directly from Apple?
Thanks to our long ago past governor, Anne Richards, Texas offers Tax Exempt status to any equipment purchased (legal terms) “for the manufacturing of television production”.
So as long as you have a business id number (some places don’t even ask for it), just tell the clerk as they’re ringing you up, that you are buying this tax exempt, fill out a simple form, and viola! Saves 8.25% of cost.
Slightly off topic- I did this when I upgraded to the video ipod (yes, you can use this in the manufacturing of television production). I also traded in my old ipod for an ADDITIONAL 10%. The guy at the Apple store said thats a better deal than the employees get.
Back to topic-
This was a move to bring back production companies to Texas, not sure if it worked, but I’ll take the discount. -
another option is to export out of FCP as Quicktime (not Quicktime Conversion) and bring that into DVDSP. Once you’ve authored the look of the DVD, let DVDSP do the mpg conversion (build/format).
Why it went away is probably some kind of corruption… trash your preference, repair you permissions, reboot. That may bring it back, but at least you have options.

April 19, 2007 at 5:16 am in reply to: mpeg1 at 640×480??? Can it be done? Deadline almost here!I know what your saying, but I’m under a deadline and the programs I own (compressor/cleaner) won’t do what I need.
The examples she sent me were mpeg1 640×480 and they looked great.
I was able to get cleaner to do the 640×480, but it looked like crap.I think the only reason she said to match it is because she didn’t know the anwser to “what flavor of mpeg do you need”.
I am downloading a trial version of Squeeze to see if that will help.
I appreciate your comments.

April 19, 2007 at 4:31 am in reply to: mpeg1 at 640×480??? Can it be done? Deadline almost here!after a few failed attempts (quality very poor through cleaner), also couldn’t get MPEG Streamclip to work (mpeg1 greyed out). I ended up using compressor and mpg2.
I’m hoping this will work for my client.Anyone know of any reason that mpg2 won’t be cool, when client asks for mpg 1.
(both have .mpg as an extention)
She actually said, match the example I sent”, and didn’t have a clue what that was. -
Jeremy, I couldn’t agree more.
I find Title 3D a bit cumbersome. too much parameter manipulation only to see the output and have to “go back in”.
I use Motion when I need more than basic text.I’ve had few problems with the fct titler for just the basic bullet points and such.
Yeah there are tons of limitations and features I would love, but it does the job in a pinch.my 2 cents

When you say
Now, try converting it to MPEG1 using “current” size
what program are you referring to?I downloaded MPEG Streamclip, but the mpeg function is greyed out.
Have you used this before? Can you help guide me due to deadline? On another (much slower) computer, I’m trying to convert the Final Cut Quicktimes (from uncompressed 8 bit timeline) using Cleaner. It tells me another hour to see the quality of the first test (a 1 minute segment). If this looks clean than I’m here all night to make my deadline tomorrow.

not sure what causes this, but it has happened to me at a place I used to work. I will be monitoring to see any solutions.
We suspected corrupted font files, but still had the issues once replaced.
